In the theatrical performance “Uprooting – Memories of Smyrna,” dance, music, and speech coexist. Dancers portray moments from the life in Smyrna before the Asia Minor Catastrophe. With their bodies and souls, they create a theatrical action full of rhythm, accompanied by literary texts referring to the Greek community of Smyrna.
The texts are narrated by the actress Katerina Lehou. Through movement, speech, and music, a moving atmosphere is created, transporting us back to the ambiance of life in Smyrna before and during the uprooting of the Greeks.
The direction and choreography are by the acclaimed choreographer of the Olympic flame ceremonies for the Olympic Games, Artemis Ignatiou, and the original music composition is by the award-winning composer Miran Tsalkian.
